Lacrosse

Box Lacrosse is a fast paced, indoor version of field lacrosse that is gaining popularity across the country. The program at HCI will be run by Texas BoxCrosse and will include camps, clinics, team and individual training and recreational leagues for both youth and adults. Players will find that Box Lacrosse and Field Lacrosse are very different from one another. The essential skills of both games such as passing, catching, and shooting are very similar, but game rules, contact, and strategy are vastly different. Hill Country Indoor will have an indoor turf field (185’ by 85’) with field markings that can accommodate various formats of practice, play and athletic training.

Chris Bocklet: As a player, Chris was rated as the No. 7 recruit in the country by Inside Lacrosse following his career at John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y. He was a two-time high-school All-American in lacrosse and a one-time All-American playing quarterback on the football team. In lacrosse, he scored 218 goals and added 132 assists, setting school records in both categories. He continued playing lacrosse at The University of Virginia where he was a three-time All-American and won the NCAA national Championship in 2011.  He is now currently coaching varsity and youth lacrosse in Austin and playing professional lacrosse for the Denver Outlaws on the same team as his two older brothers Mike and Matt Bocklet.  Upon graduating, Chris served as the offensive coordinator for Wheat Ridge High School, which earned the Colorado 4A State Championship in 2013.  In 2015, he moved to Dallas and coached at Allen where he helped the program win their first playoff game in school history and make it all the way to the state semi-finals. Chris and his family currently run X10 Lacrosse which is composed of lacrosse day camps throughout the country and two sleepaway adventure lacrosse camps in Carbondale, Co and Adirondack, NY.

Ryan Willis: Ryan grew up in Austin, TX and began playing lacrosse as a freshman midfielder in High School. He graduated and went on to play at Texas State University as both a midfielder and a Long Stick Midfielder.  In 2006 while playing for TXSU, Ryan began coaching for his former high school and its budding youth program.  He has been working with youth programs of all levels for the last 11 years.

Gabe Sepulveda: Gabe Sepulveda has been involved with central Texas lacrosse for over 15 years. As a product of a military family, Gabe spent a portion of his life living in Harker Heights, TX where his father was stationed in nearby Ft. Hood. Without any active programs in the area, Gabe co-founded the Harker Heights high school lacrosse team. He spent one year coaching the team after graduating. He then went on to play MCLA lacrosse for four years as a defenseman while attending the University of Texas at Austin. Gabe stayed involved with lacrosse by beginning to coach after graduation. He found his true passion for the game in coaching youth lacrosse and has been doing so in the greater Austin area for over 7 years.
