Get to Know Our Trainers: Jarren Begg

When and how did you get your start in fitness? What drew you to working in fitness?

I started officially working in fitness in 2019, but I have always been into fitness dating all the way back to elementary school and playing sports. I have always loved helping people move better, feel better, and live better!

What drew you to HCI? What were you doing before training at HCI?

I was drawn to HCI by the facility and the members, it’s such a fun place to work! Before HCI I spent some time at LA Fitness, and before that I was a director of operations for a glass manufacturer.

What was your focus when you started training?

To learn as much as I could about the body and how it moves, and what we can do gradually to improve. The hardest thing I find for people is looking at the big picture and having a goal in mind, so learning how you can turn that into bite sized pieces was 1st priority for me.

Have you learned any important lessons as a trainer?

The impact you can have on someone’s life is greater than you could imagine. So when someone puts their hopes and goals in your hands, take them seriously.

Any memorable moments with one of your clients?

So many! I love when clients come in and say they accomplished something they haven’t done in years, or when they tell me strangers come up to them and say how good they look. When clients tell me about life improvements it motivates me to keep learning and pushing.

What is your typical weekly fitness routine?

I like to strength train 4-5 days a week and train cardio in intervals 2-3 days a week.

What are your fitness goals at the moment?

I am really focused on moving better and stabilizing my body as I age.

What are your fitness goals for the future?

Continue to learn what I am capable of and continue to push myself!
