Get to Know Our Instructors: Andrea Steimle

When and how did you get your start in fitness? What drew you to working in fitness?

Since I was a teenager I enjoyed running and taking yoga classes. I am and have always been a big advocate for staying active and keeping a healthy lifestyle.

What drew you to HCI? What were you doing before teaching at HCI?

I love that HCI offers so many class options at various times throughout the day. I can’t have an excuse not to workout and can’t get “bored.” All the instructors are knowledgeable and I enjoy being around like-minded individuals. The facility is always really clean which is a major plus! Before teaching at HCI I was a stay-at-home mom and taught yoga in the evenings at a local yoga studio.

What was the first class you taught? What do you teach now?

I started teaching a variety of yoga classes immediately after getting my 200 hour yoga certificate with the Yoga Alliance. Currently, I teach various yoga classes here at HCI including Beginner Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, and Power Yoga.

Have you learned any important lessons as an instructor?

Use clear cues to guide students through their practice and model when needed. Creating a sense of community is important. Surprisingly as a yogi, I am not the most flexible person. Anyone and anybody can do yoga!

Any memorable moments in one of your classes?

Every time people come back to my classes and seeing students’ growth in their yoga practice.

What is your typical weekly fitness routine?

Walking daily. Taking 3-4 classes at HCI. A daily yoga home practice.

What are your fitness goals at the moment?

Staying physically and mentally fit to feel and become the best version of myself. Self care is a priority for me.

What are your fitness goals for the future?

Continue to grow in my own yoga practice and to try different classes other than yoga.
